Job summary

Colorado State University seeks an Range and Training Land Assessment (RTLA) Coordinator to conduct land assessments, perform field surveys, and monitor LRAM projects in support of Army training missions.

The role requires outdoor work in rugged terrain, data capture with GPS/ArcGIS, and preparation of technical reports. A BS/BA plus 3 years experience is expected; MS/MA preferred for advanced applicants.

Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree plus 3 years relevant experience is required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather and rugged terrain.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely over rugged dirt and gravel trails/roads.
  • Ability to record GIS data using a handheld GPS unit and demonstrated basic operational knowledge of GIS/GPS.
  • Preferred MS/MA degree in natural resources management or closely related field.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct land assessments to identify, monitor, and evaluate LRAM projects.
  • Perform field surveys and data collection including GPS and photo point monitoring.
  • Assess landscape conditions to develop recommendations for landscape management.
  • Monitor LRAM BMPs by inspections, documentation, and reporting.
  • Prepare RTLA recommendations and technical reports for required reporting intervals.

With a robust benefits package, collaborative atmosphere, and focus on work-life balance, CSU is where you can thrive, grow, and make a lasting impact.* Review our detailed benefits information here.* Explore the additional perks of working at CSU here. ## Essential Job Duties:* Conduct land assessments to identify, monitor, and evaluate Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM) projects and determine landscape conditions that support Army training mission requirements.* Perform field surveys and data collection including photo point monitoring, windshield surveys, GPS point collection, reconnaissance surveys, field measurements, observations, and photographic documentation.* Assess landscape conditions in accordance with TATM funding guidance and Training Circular (TC) 25-1 to develop recommendations for landscape condition management.* Monitor and evaluate LRAM Best Management Practices (BMPs) by conducting project inspections, documenting performance, and preparing monitoring reports.* Establish and evaluate land management thresholds using TC 25-1 and Soldier Field Manual metrics to support training areas such as landing zones (LZs), Stryker maneuver corridors, bivouac sites, and fighting positions.* Inspect and maintain field equipment and vehicles, including routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance checks on trucks used to access survey locations.* Track and document project progress by maintaining project records and supporting monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.* Prepare RTLA recommendations and technical reports for Installation Points of Contact at required reporting intervals, providing data-driven recommendations for land management and training area sustainability. ## Conditions of Employment:* Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for all new hires).* Must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and public trust clearance.* Must be eligible to work in the United States by the proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.* Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date. ## Supervision:* This position does not have supervisory duties. ## Minimum Qualifications:* A BS/BA degree plus 3 years relevant experience is required.* Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather and rugged terrain.* Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely over rugged dirt and gravel trails/roads.* Ability to record GIS data using a handheld GPS unit and demonstrated basic operational knowledge of Graphical Information Systems and Global Positioning Systems. ## Preferred Qualifications:* An MS/MA degree in natural resources management or closely related field.* Working knowledge and experience with Army’s Sustainable Range Program (SRP); particularly in the RTLA component of ITAM.* Experience with the LRAM component of ITAM.* Experience in natural resources management on military lands.* Experience operating ArcGIS Software and creating basic points, lines, and polygons on topographic maps and imagery.* Excellent written communication skills.# Salary RangeSalary Range is $68,000 to &75,0000# Required Application DocumentsTo apply, please upload the following applicant documents.
