Job summary

The Wild Animal Sanctuary is seeking a Ranch Hand Laborer in Craig, CO. The role covers maintenance, fencing, field and hay work, and significant animal care duties including feeding and water handling.

This is a salaried, full-time exempt position with emphasis on practical hands-on work and safety. Ideal candidates will have experience with heavy equipment and basic electrical/plumbing tasks, the ability to lift 75 lbs, and a collaborative work style.

Qualifications

  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Able to lift 75 lbs or more.
  • Strong teamwork and communication in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • 50–70% feeding and animal care operations.
  • Maintenance, fence repair, and general property upkeep.
  • Electrical, plumbing, and well-pump maintenance knowledge is preferred.
  • Field and hay work, road grading, and driving equipment as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 Exempt Full-Time- Mid Level

Primary Function: Ranch Hand Laborer/ Feeding/ Maintenance/ Field & Hay Work

Job Summary:

Ranch Hand Laborer-Maintenance (Including Electrical-Plumbing-Construction Knowledge)/Fencing/Field & Hay Work/ 70% Feeding/Animal Care Operation 10%

Perform other Job Duties as assigned 20%

*Heavy Equipment Knowledge/Experience is needed such as Utilizing Road Grader, Tractors, Skid Loader, and Hay Equipment. Well-Pump knowledge is required.

No housing is available. Already located near Craig, Co. is preferred or willing to in-person interview if located out of state.

This position requires ranch hand work, caring for the property, fence maintenance, field/hay work, and building gates/pens, electrical, plumbing, well-pump maintenance, road grading, and seasonal hay work.

This position requires excellent communication on a regular basis to direct supervisor.

This position is a salaried position, paid bi-weekly.

With the guidance and under supervision of the Executive Director and Horse Refuge Director, this positions will execute day to day functions regarding the herds/horses, feeding, water haul, food haul, diet and nutrition, driving around property with supplies, perform all duties in a safe manner while following company protocol, custodial, sustainability, and long-term equipment care. Field and Hay work. Electrical and Plumbing. Construction background is preferred. Perform other related job duties as assigned.
