Job summary

SkyWest Ramp Agents are responsible for processing baggage between baggage areas and aircraft, including loading/unloading and operating motorized equipment. You will read load sheets, escort passengers, and ensure compliance with FAA rules and SkyWest policies.

This role requires a valid driver's license, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work a flexible schedule outdoors in all weather. Training spans five weeks with four days per week of instruction.

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Possess a valid, unrestricted, state-issued driver's license.
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Obtain and maintain position-specific clearances including FAA, TSA, Port Authority, and U.S. Customs clearances.
  • Pass a pre-placement background check and drug screen.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading aircraft and carts.
  • Stacking and unstacking baggage in aircraft.
  • Completing safety checklists for motorized equipment.
  • Driving and operating motorized equipment (e.g., conveyor belts).
  • Reading and interpreting load sheets and checked baggage tags.
  • Escorting passengers and special-needs customers safely and courteously.
  • Ensuring compliance with SkyWest and FAA regulations and policies.
  • Clean and service aircraft interiors to ensure a safe, clean, and professional environment for passengers and crew.

Primary Job Duties

Ramp Agents are responsible for processing baggage between baggage areas in the airport facilities and aircraft, as well as receiving and dispatching aircraft.

  • Loading and unloading aircraft and carts
  • Stacking and unstacking baggage in aircraft
  • Completing safety checklists for motorized equipment
  • Driving and operating motorized equipment (e.g., conveyor belts)
  • Reading and interpreting load sheets and checked baggage tags
  • Escorting passengers and special-needs customers safely and courteously
  • Ensuring compliance with SkyWest and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and policies
  • Clean and service aircraft interiors to ensure a safe, clean, and professional environment for passengers and crew
Minimum Requirements

We are looking for individuals excited to take on new challenges, especially within the airline industry! SkyWest Ramp Agents come from a wide range of backgrounds, education, interests, and experience.

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Possess a valid, unrestricted, state-issued driver's license
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED

Physical And Other Requirements
  • Lift heavy bags over 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • This position requires you to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Attend four days of Basic Station Training
  • This position requires a flexible schedule, including split shifts that may occur during early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Part-time and full-time positions may be available
  • $ 20 per hour
  • This is not a Department of Transportation safety-sensitive position

Training Schedule

This Below Wing Ramp training program spans five weeks and includes both computer-based and hands-on ramp instruction. Training is held four days per week, approximately nine hours per day, with scheduled breaks and a lunch period. Tardiness and absence are not tolerated. Please note that the scheduled day and time are subject to change.
