Job summary

HORIBA Instruments in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking an Engineer I to support design, testing, installation, and servicing of Raman analytical systems throughout the product lifecycle. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service teams to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements include a technical engineering degree, electronics troubleshooting ability, knowledge of analyzers used in refineries or chemical plants, and basic programming with MATLAB.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical area such as an Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Able to demonstrate knowledge of electronics repair, ability to troubleshoot to component level and electronic test equipment.
• Knowledge of analyzers typically found in refineries or chemical plants. Theory of operation, set-up, calibration, repair, diagnosing faults, etc.
• Basic knowledge of computer programming, Microsoft products and MATLAB.
• Background knowledge of spectroscopy and its principles is a plus. The position also includes responsibilities for generating and updating AutoCAD drawings.
• The position often requires work beyond a normal workday or workweek.
• Must be able to travel, both domestically and internationally. Must be able to drive an automobile and possess a valid driver’s license; must be able to obtain a passport.

Responsibilities

• Design, testing, manufacturing, implementation, installation, and servicing of Raman analytical systems.
• Work with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service teams to support product lifecycle from design through production.
• Assist with product development, engineering changes, testing, and validation activities.
• Support manufacturing activities including system assembly, integration, production testing, and transition of new designs into production.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
