Job summary

RailPros in Missouri is seeking a Railroad Structural Engineer to design and analyze railroad structures such as bridges, retaining walls, and shoring. You will apply standard techniques to conventional projects and adapt methods for non-routine aspects on small projects or portions of larger ones.

The role requires collaborating with teams, strong communication, and CAD proficiency. A ABET-accredited engineering degree and 3+ years of experience are required, with EIT certification preferred.

  • 3+ years of prior experience
  • Experience producing drawings with CAD software.

Job Summary

The Railroad Structural Engineer develops extensive knowledge and skills in the design and analysis of Railroad Structures including but not limited to railroad bridges, retaining walls, and shoring. This role involves evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks or sequences of tasks for conventional projects with minimal complexity. The position requires using judgment to adapt methods for non-routine aspects of assignments and working on small projects or portions of larger projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform moderate design tasks or lead review tasks
  • Prepare portions of project documents or provide markups for reviewed documents
  • Edit or review specifications
  • Conduct research and investigations

Qualifications
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    • Experience designing per the AREMA manual for Railway Engineering
    • Proficiency with electronic communication, including email and text, and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
    • Mathcad proficiency a plus
    • Basic oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to interact effectively with other staff members.
    • Spanish language proficiency is a plus
  • Required Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
    • 3+ years of prior experience
  • Preferred Education and Experience:
    • Experience producing drawings with CAD software.
  • Additional Qualifications:
    • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
