Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Construction Inspector in Raleigh, NC to support railroad safety programs for Class 1 railroads, regional lines, transit systems, and state DOTs.

This full-time, non-exempt position involves extensive travel (50–85%), field work, and documentation. You'll monitor construction sites for safety compliance, maintain detailed field records, review materials for quality, and coordinate with clients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of civil construction inspection experience or related rail/civil projects.
• Proficient with Android OS on tablet/smartphone.
• Proficient with Citrix Applications.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail; well organized.
• Ability to travel for extended periods (50–85%).
• Ability to complete Federal, Client, and/or Company Specific Training.

Responsibilities

• Provide worksite monitoring of construction crews to verify safety compliance.
• Maintain detailed records of jobsite activities and compliance issues.
• Examine and maintain company materials to ensure quality standards.
• Document deviations from plans and safety concerns; request corrective actions and resolve issues.
• Submit daily field reports detailing Contractor and/or Railroad activities.
• Provide clear, concise safety briefings with all site personnel.
• Intervene when safety, compliance, or policies are violated.
