Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Field Construction Inspector (FCI) to support railroad safety services for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, State DOT's, as well as Railroad Suppliers, Contractors, and Consultants alike.

The position requires a high school diploma and a minimum of 2 years of civil construction inspection experience, with strong communication skills and the ability to travel extensively (50–85%).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of civil construction inspection experience including grade separation, paving, utilities, or railroad-related work.
• Experience with Class 1 Railroads, regional railroads, transit systems, or state DOT projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide jobsite coordination and on-site oversight.
• Communicate clearly with railroad personnel and contractors.
• Deliver safety briefings and enforce policies on site.
• Submit daily field reports detailing activities.
• Enforce project site safety per applicable policies.
