Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Provo, UT to oversee construction, maintenance and safety compliance for railroads, transit systems, and state DOTs.

The CIC will lead safety on the worksite, coordinate with dispatchers and supervisors, and ensure adherence to railroad regulations while traveling for multi-month deployments as required.

Qualifications

• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Communicates effectively in both verbal and written formats.
• Ability for long-term travel assignments, including multi-month deployments.
• Valid Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company preferably in the maintenance of way or TY&E departments.
• Successfully completes all required federal, client, and company-specific training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Ensure compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) during track-related work.
• Monitor track conditions, approaching trains, and work activities to keep personnel clear.
• Communicate with train dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors to coordinate movements and permissions.
• Document all activities, including briefings, incident reports, and daily logs for management and regulators.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
