Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is seeking a multi-functional Revenue Accountant responsible for accurate invoicing, data analysis, and collaboration across Sales, Marketing, Operations, and regional staff to support revenue recognition and timely billing.

The role requires analyzing waybills, audits, rate applications, and coordination with internal teams to resolve discrepancies, while maintaining compliance with railroad industry accounting rules.

Qualifications

• In-depth understanding of interline settlement (ISS) and railroad accounting rules & procedures.
• Experience with TMS, RMS or similar systems is highly preferred.
• Familiar with Rate EDI Network, RailConnect Contract Management and related tools.
• Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to learn PowerBI, CRM and analytics tools quickly.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with departments and regional staff to ensure data accuracy for revenue capture.
• Audit waybills to confirm revenue and expense captures from railroad maneuvers.
• Advise on remedial recommendations when discrepancies are found in waybill data or rates.
• Maintain customer accounts and investigate payment discrepancies.
• Investigate unrated transactions in ISS and coordinate resolutions.
• Interpret railroad contracts related to rate applications.
• Cross-train with Commercial Support for TMS charge code maintenance.
• Monitor funds settlement with other railroads.
• Assist in monthly revenue close procedures.
• Perform other tasks including special projects.
