Job summary

American Track in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a backhoe operator for railroad construction and maintenance projects. You will operate a backhoe and related equipment, with training available on Tamper machines and Ballast Regulators.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience operating a backhoe in railroad construction preferred.
• Experience in railroad environment preferred.
• Ability and willingness to travel weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate all machinery in a safe manner
• Set up heavy construction equipment
• Operate equipment to grade or redistribute earth
• Operate equipment to move, load or unload material
• Signal directions or warnings to coworkers
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities and signals
• Locate underground services prior to beginning work
• Grade plan requirements and set grade standards
• Lead a crew and delegate work within scope
• Understand production and quantity requirements
• Make decisions based on verifiable standards
• Perform incidental work items within other crafts including operating on-track machinery
• Assist crews with necessary labor as needed
• Be willing to be trained and train others on the machine
