Job summary

Rio Grande Pacific Transit Group, a Rio Grande Pacific Corporation company, seeks a Scrubber Helper to assist in the operation and maintenance of railhead cleaning equipment. This hands-on role supports setup, inspections, cleaning, material handling, and basic maintenance alongside experienced Maintenance of Way staff.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work safely around active railroad tracks and heavy equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a field crew.

Responsibilities

• Assist with rail scrubbing and rail-cleaning operations.
• Help prepare, inspect, and set up scrubber equipment before use.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining brushes, components, tools, and equipment.
• Monitor equipment during operation and report problems or unusual conditions.
• Load, unload, carry, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.
• Use basic hand and power tools as trained and authorized.
• Assist with general track maintenance and field activities as needed.
• Maintain equipment and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
• Follow railroad, company, and job-site safety requirements.
• .Perform other Maintenance of Way duties as assigned.
• Report any concerns that cannot be resolved onsite and may require additional assistance.
