Job summary

Cando Rail & Terminals Ltd. is seeking Railcar Washers/Car Cleaners to support operations at our Wisconsin site. Join a fast-paced, safety-driven team responsible for cleaning railcars to meet loading standards and ensure reliable rail transportation.

You will work outdoors, read instructions, perform daily inspections, and collaborate with switching crews to maximize efficiency. The company offers training programs, safety culture, and strong benefits.

Qualifications

  • Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge of rail car components.
  • Be willing and able to learn and perform as part of the switching crews performing the railcar movements on site.
  • Ability to read and write general documentation; communicate effectively with all team members.
  • Physically fit including the ability to pull self-up and down from a railcar on a continuous basis.
  • Meet all customer site requirements including clear drug and alcohol testing and Criminal Record clearance.
  • Be able and willing to work in all weather conditions during day and night shifts, at a site that is operational seven (7) days per week, 365 days per year.

Responsibilities

  • Clean according to instructions and requirements while working within company operating rules and safety procedures.
  • Perform daily inspections on customer railcars
  • Clean out designated railcars and remove the excess product off the rail line
  • Promptly report all safety, equipment, and problems to the site designate
  • Complete daily reports, daily logs, and other reports deemed necessary
  • Exert "best effort" to protect human life, human safety and company property
  • Actively participate with the team and provide excellent customer service while promoting a superior company image
  • Participate in training or company initiatives as required

Job Description

Car Cleaners are responsible for ensuring the railcars used by the customer at the site meet the standards for loading product and transportation on the rail network. Working in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment, Car Cleaners must work well in teams to maximize efficiency and safety, while demonstrating a strong initiative and organizational skills.

  • Clean according to instructions and requirements while working within company operating rules and safety procedures.

Education & Experience

  • 1 – 3 years mechanical experience; experience working with railcars or in an industrial setting preferred
  • Welding experience is an asset
