Job summary

Transco Rail Services, part of Marmon Holdings, is seeking a Railcar Repair Technician to perform repairs and inspections on tank cars. You will lead with safety, meet customer expectations, and handle related clerical tasks. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel are required.

You will maintain certifications, follow AAR regulations, and work with a team in a fast-paced environment to ensure quality and compliance across multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to problem-solve and make decisions.
  • Ability to use common hand tools to perform repairs and inspections.
  • Capable of performing basic railcar repairs and inspections.
  • Strong customer relations and teamwork skills.
  • Must follow safety procedures and adapt to weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Railcar Repair – uses current repair procedures and performs repairs as needed.
  • Conducts railcar inspections to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Customer Support – meets customer expectations and ensures satisfaction.
  • Clerical – handles invoicing, inspection and work order information.
  • Maintains required certifications and familiarity with AAR rules.
  • Other work-related tasks as assigned.

This person must demonstrate good leadership and team skills while being a safety-conscious person.Railcar Repair – always uses current repair procedures. Conducts railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance and performs repairs as necessary.Customer Support – Meets the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure their satisfaction of work.Clerical – ensures that all necessary invoicing, inspection, work order information is complete.Maintains all certifications, complete and maintain required certifications, demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.Other work-related tasks as assigned.General Requirements:High school diploma or GED required.Must have mechanical aptitude, ability to problem-solve and to make decisions. Ability to use hand tools (such as pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets, and other equipment to chip and grind weld slag or spatter).Must handle and successfully complete basic railcar repairs and inspections.Consistently demonstrate skill in customer relations, using good interpersonal skills and be able to work as a part of a team.Demonstrates an ability to work safely and follow proper proceduresMust work in all types of weather conditions.Valid Driver’s LicenseTravel required: up to 50%, including weekly local travel, regional day trips, and potential overnight travel as neededPhysical RequirementsMust be able to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positionsMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds from the ground surfaceMust be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heightsMust be able to perform a FIT Test and wear a respiratorMust be able to pass company physical exam, drug screening and background checkWhy Join Our Team?We take pride in offering our employees rich benefits packages.
