Responsibilities

  • Use tools to remove debris and contaminants and keep railcars ready for service.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and keep work areas clean.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.

Road & Rail Services is hiring a dependable Railcar Prepper to join our team in Normal, IL. This is a hands-on outdoor position where you will help inspect, clean, and prepare railcars for safe transport.

What You'll Do

As a Railcar Prepper, you will inspect railcars for damage, fatigue, debris, and other conditions that may affect transport. You will assist with opening and closing railcar end doors, identify repairs that may be completed by Road & Rail Services, and help make sure each railcar is ready for service.

You will also use backpack blowers, scrapers, and other tools to remove debris and contaminants that could potentially damage vehicles or interfere with transport.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining assigned tools and equipment, keeping work areas clean, and following all company, customer, and industry safety procedures.

Qualified candidates should have:
  • A strong commitment to safety
  • Reliable attendance and a willingness to work as part of a team
  • The ability to learn new tasks and follow detailed procedures

  • A valid state driver's license

Previous rail, automotive, warehouse, construction, landscaping, or other hands-on labor experience can be helpful, but a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are just as important.
