Road & Rail Services is hiring a Railcar Prep & Inspection Technician for our Montgomery, AL operation. This hands-on role inspects, cleans, prepares, and completes minor repairs on railcars before service.

The job emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork in an outdoor industrial setting. Prior rail operations or steel welding experience is helpful but not required. Competitive pay and room to grow within the rail industry.

• Previous stick-welding experience.
• Experience using common hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
• Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Strong attention to detail and safety.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Railroad operations/railcar prep experience helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect railcars for damage, wear, structural concerns, and other visible defects.
• Open, close, and secure railcar end doors according to procedures.
• Prepare railcars for service by removing dirt, debris, and other materials.
• Use backpack blowers, scrapers, hand tools, and other equipment.
• Identify railcar conditions that may require maintenance or repair.
• Perform approved minor repairs, including stick welding, when required.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and PPE provided by the company.
• Keep assigned work areas organized and free of hazards.
• Communicate repair concerns or unsafe conditions to supervision.
• Follow all safety procedures of company, customer, railroad, and site.
• Assist other team members as needed.
