Guardian Rail is seeking an entry-level associate to perform railcar interior cleaning and assist with inspection and maintenance of cleaning equipment. You will read work orders, follow Guardian Rail EHS policies, and participate in safety procedures while supporting a team in both indoor and outdoor environments.
The role emphasizes reading and understanding procedures, performing tasks safely, and maintaining thorough documentation as required by QA processes and customer specifications.

Incumbents in this role are responsible for all aspects of rail car cleaning and the inspection, care and maintenance of equipment used in the cleaning process. Candidates must be able to read and understand Guardian Rail work orders, make safe confined space entries while wearing movement and sight restricting personal protective equipment with limited lighting to clean the interior of tank and hopper cars in compliance with Guardian Rail EHS policies and procedures. Inspect clean railcar interiors for compliance with customer, FRA, AAR and Guardian Rail requirements and complete cleaning checklists as required. Ensure all company guidelines are met and all safety rules are followed when performing duties.
The physical work environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid, and dusty conditions. The environment requires working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, in high and low precarious places, confined spaces.
The work type is best described as heavy, hands-on mechanical work. Work is very physical, and without proper work planning can result in out of position pushing, pulling, and lifting. Proper body mechanics, positioning and lifting techniques can be very important. Employees are urged to seek help when needed with heavier tasks, and to use lifting equipment where necessary. The positioning of the work being performed can change very frequently.
Tools used: Various heavier air and electric powered tools and equipment are used such as steam hoses, car cleaning equipment, pumps, and impact wrenches. Work also requires frequent use of hand wrenches, hammers, chisels, socket wrenches, and ladders.
