Job summary

PRS Auto is hiring Railroad Conductors at the Norfolk Southern Railroad terminal in Walkertown, NC. No prior railroad experience is required, and on-the-job training is provided to develop the necessary skills for safe rail yard operations.

The role involves assisting the Train Engineer with locomotive and rail car movements, positioning cars, and maintaining clear communication using radios and hand signals.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to learn railroad procedures and on‑the‑job training.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Safety‑mocused and team oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Train Engineer with moving locomotives and rail cars safely throughout the rail yard.
• Position rail cars on designated tracks to support loading and yard operations.
• Operate rail track switches to direct rail cars to the appropriate tracks.
• Connect and disconnect rail air hoses as needed.
• Conduct job briefings with supervisors and crew before operations begin.
• Maintain clear communication with the Train Engineer and crew using radio, verbal, and hand signals.
• Participate in daily safety briefings and follow safety procedures.
• Inspect rail equipment for visible damage and report concerns.
