Job summary

Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. is seeking a versatile Utility Person to support plant operations in housekeeping, maintenance, production, and equipment operation. You will monitor plant conditions, grease and lubricate equipment, and maintain clean, organized facilities.

Hands-on work, teamwork, and safety are essential in this role. New hires will attend orientation and safety training at our Dallas office; travel reimbursement is provided for long commutes.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-year equipment operation, plant operation, or maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges/dials and make competent decisions.
  • Willing to work irregular shifts, days, nights and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in plant operations including production, quality control, loading and shipping.
  • Plant clean-up and lubrication.
  • Assist with preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment.
  • Must be willing to cross train in all plant areas.
  • Operate plant-specific mobile equipment as needed.
  • Perform daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintain maintenance log.
  • Follow safety rules and company policies.

Description Position Summary The Utility Person plays a versatile and important role in supporting plant operations across housekeeping, maintenance, production, and equipment operation. In this position, you'll help monitor plant conditions during operation, perform routine maintenance/housekeeping tasks such as greasing and lubricating equipment, and maintain overall plant cleanliness and organization.You'll also have opportunities to operate equipment and assist with a variety of day-to-day operational needs as needed, contributing directly to the safe and efficient performance of the plant. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, values teamwork, and is committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

New Hire Orientation & Safety Training Requirement

All newly hired employees are required to attend New Hire Orientation and Safety Training in person at our Corporate Office located in Dallas, Texas. Attendance is mandatory and is a condition of employment.To support employees traveling to attend training, mileage and approved travel expenses will be reimbursed for individuals whose commute to the Dallas Corporate Office exceeds 50 miles, in accordance with company travel and reimbursement policies. Additional details regarding travel arrangements and reimbursement procedures will be provided prior to the training date.

Requirements

Physical requirements

Ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protectionMust be able to climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks to a height of 100 ft. and work at this height for extended periodsAbility to operate radio, CB radio, computer and other equipment as requiredMust be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipmentMust be able to lift up to 75lbsAbility to use hand tools such as grease guns, shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc

Working Conditions

Will work in varied outdoor environments (in all weather conditions - heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions). Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs. The incumbent will be exposed to cement, clay, limestone, shale, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricant.
