Job summary

Railserve in Midland, KY is hiring dependable, safety-focused Rail Switching Technicians for an entry-level, outdoor role. Training is provided to learn locomotives, switching operations, and safe railcar movement. Shifts are rotating, with pay between $20 and $23 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Ideal candidates are reliable, safety-minded, and able to work physically demanding outdoor conditions while following all safety rules and procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass a physical, drug screen, and background check.
• Comfort with physically demanding outdoor work and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspect locomotives prior to operation and check fuel, sand, water, and supplies.
• Operate locomotive controls and interpret signals and safety rules.
• Assist with switching, movement of railcars, and use of trackside equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear PPE as required.
• Train new employees and perform basic maintenance tasks as needed.
