Rail Switching Lead
PSC Group is hiring a dependable, safety‑minded Lead to join our Rail Switching team. This full‑time position involves working outdoors to safely move railcars within an industrial facility, supporting day‑to‑day operations in a critical logistics role. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensures employees have the knowledge, training, tools, and equipment needed to perform their work safely, accurately, and efficiently
- Actively participates in safety meetings and training initiatives to model strong leadership behaviors
- Performs regular safety observations in the field to maintain high visibility with employees and customers
- Oversees on‑job training to ensure it aligns with PSC and customer best practices
- Provides positive reinforcement and timely one‑on‑one coaching to support employee growth and accountability
- Reviews area procedures for accuracy, redlines necessary updates, and communicates changes to PSC and customer leadership
- Performs other duties as assigned to support team performance and operational excellence
- Reviews track lists to identify and organize railcars for spotting, separating, loading, or outbound movement
- Ensures railcars are properly connected and secured by setting brakes and verifying couplings
- Separates loaded cars for shipment from preloaded or empty railcars
- Weighs inbound and outbound cars to confirm compliance with weight limits
- Performs additional duties as needed to support safe and efficient rail operations
Job Qualifications:
- Experience is a plus but not required, and paid on‑the‑job training is available
- May require a valid Driver's License and/or a valid TWIC card, depending on work location
- 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
- Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
- Wear all required PPE without restriction and pass any required medical exams
- Speak, write, read fluent English
- Regular on‑site attendance and punctuality is required
- Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus
Work Schedule:
12‑hour rotating shift (alternates between days / nights). Includes holidays and weekends.
