Job summary

Olsson is seeking an Assistant Surveyor to work with experienced survey crews on railroad and transportation infrastructure projects. The role offers hands-on training, exposure to survey technology, and clear pathways for long-term career growth within surveying.

This position supports rail projects across the United States and requires extensive travel. Candidates should enjoy outdoor work, be willing to travel roughly 80% or more, and collaborate with project teams while learning procedures

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel 80%+ including overnight travel.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, terrains, and environments.
• Ability to lift and carry survey equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Demonstrated work ethic with safety, reliability and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Assist survey crews with daily field operations on railroad and transportation projects.
• Load, unload, transport, and maintain survey equipment and supplies.
• Set survey stakes, hubs, targets, prisms, and other field markers.
• Assist with GPS, total station, laser scanning, and data collection activities.
• Follow railroad safety requirements and company safety procedures.
• Travel frequently to project locations across the United States.
