Job summary

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is hiring a Rail Loader to join our team. If you enjoy working with cars and have mechanical or rail experience, this role may be a fit.

You will prepare railcars for shipment, load/unload vehicles, and ensure proper spacing and securement according to customer standards. The job requires physical strength, the ability to work in confined railcar spaces and at significant heights, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Previous rail department or mechanical experience preferred.
• Physically able to safely lift 50 lbs.
• Able to work in confined spaces of a railcar and at heights of 20 ft 2 in.

Responsibilities

• Prepare railcars for shipment by opening/closing doors and setting bridge plates.
• Load and unload vehicles onto railcars following quality standards.
• Ensure vehicles are spaced and secured according to customer standards.
• Perform repair and maintenance work (welding, cutting, etc.).
• Maintain buck loader/ramps, door tracks and moving parts.
• Conduct monthly inspections and paint bridge plates as needed.

Rail Processor/Loader

We are currently seeking a Rail Loader to join the team! Love working with cars? Have mechanical or rail experience?

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Prepare railcars for shipment, opening and closing railcar doors, setting bridge plates, blowing trash out of railcars, chocking vehicles, chock replacement
• Load and unload vehicles onto railcars in compliance with company quality standards
• Ensure vehicles are properly spaced within the rail, secure vehicles according to customer standards onto outbound railcars
• Perform repair and maintenance work- welding, metal cutting, etc.
• Maintain buck loader/ramps-lubing railcars, graphite door tracks, and other moving mechanical parts, etc.
• Conduct monthly inspections on bridge plates and paint bridge plates as needed

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Previous rail department or mechanical experience preferred
• Physically able to safely lift 50 lbs. at shoulder level
• Able to work within the confined spaces of a railcar and work at heights of 20 feet 2 inches
• Valid Drivers License with acceptable driving record
• Must be willing to work in all weather conditions
• Walk and stand much of your day
• Must be able to perform repetitive, bending, stomping and hitting chocks to secure vehicles to railcars, able to walk, kneel, crouch and twist throughout the day.
