Job summary

Mitchell Rail Gear in Dundee, Michigan is seeking a mechanically inclined professional to assemble mechanical and hydraulic components and install rail gear systems on trucks and construction equipment. This role offers hands-on work on diverse projects rather than repetitive assembly lines.

You will read schematics and drawings, use hand tools, test assemblies, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems with on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical ability and comfort with hands-on work.
• Experience with trucks, heavy equipment, farm equipment, automotive systems, or industrial machinery.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
• Own basic mechanic’s tools.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and instructions.
• Dependable with a strong work ethic.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and hydraulic components and subassemblies
• Install rail gear systems and attachments on trucks and construction equipment
• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical installations
• Read assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions
• Use hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, and shop equipment
• Test and inspect completed assemblies and installations
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and hydraulic systems as required
• Work closely with production, engineering, and service personnel
