Advocate Health in Charlotte is seeking a Patient Transport Associate to escort patients and visitors throughout the facility, moving them by bed, wheelchair, crib, or stretcher while ensuring safety and comfort. You will coordinate transport orders and progress using the hospital paging and phone systems.

Responsibilities include assisting with transfers from bed to transport equipment, orienting admitted patients, and maintaining accurate patient location information for staff and families.

Formación

• Graduate of an ARRT-recognized Radiologic Technology program.
• Registry eligible; complete registry within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification required.

Responsabilidades

• Escort patients, guests and visitors using ambulatory devices, beds, cribs, stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Use hospital paging system and telephone to coordinate transport orders and progress.
• Assist nursing and clinical staff with transferring patients to transport equipment.
• Transport and orient admissions to their rooms.
• Provide directions to guests and locate patients for family members.
• Verify outpatient registration and direct transport to departments/clinics.
• Retrieve, clean and store unused patient transport equipment.

Major Responsibilities

• Escorts patients, guests, and visitors to points of destination using ambulatory, beds, cribs, stretchers, and wheelchairs.
• Possesses knowledge and appropriate use of hospital paging system.
• Uses hospital telephone system as it relates to transport tracking to accept transport orders, put jobs in progress and complete jobs.
• Assists nursing and various clinical staff with the transferring of patients from bed to transport equipment.
• Transports and provides room orientation for admissions.
• Provides directional information to guests and visitors and patient location to patient's family members and guests.
• Verifies registration of outpatients and transport to appropriate departments or clinics.
• Retrieves, cleans, and stores all unused patient transport equipment.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic Technology.

Certification / License

Must be registry eligible with registry completion within 1 year of hire date. BLS required

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Requires strenuous physical effort while assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers. Handles equipment and monitors supplies. Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with patients and hospital staff required. May frequently be required to stretch, bend, twist, squat or kneel in operating radiographic equipment. Will be required to use hands for power gripping, speed work and precision during manipulation of radiographic equipment and in the case of injured or diseased patients. Vision and hearing for distances of up to 10 feet is necessary.
