Job summary

TCH Medical Center in Austin, TX is seeking a Radiology Specialist who can perform advanced radiographic procedures in a fast-paced setting. You will work under licensed radiologists to assist in accurate interpretation, applying ALARA principles and ensuring patient safety.

The ideal candidate has a diagnostic radiology diploma, R-ARRT and CMRT certifications, and at least 3 years of radiology experience. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to deliver high-quality imaging

Responsibilities

• Check rooms daily for stock levels and update supply lists.
• Confirm patient identity and prepare patients for procedures.
• Verify patient pregnancy and informed consent statuses.
• Assess contraindications for the procedure.
• Determine contrast agent type and dose based on patient status.
• Provide clear information about the procedure to patient and family.
• Maintain current knowledge of equipment, materials, medications, and processes.
• Perform routine and complex procedures while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology.
• Apply ALARA principles to minimize exposure for patient and staff.
• Document fluoroscopic time, radiation exposure, incidents, and concerns.
• Report equipment issues to Bio-Med and consult with radiologists or medical physicists as needed.
• Maintain positive communication with radiologists, leadership, nurses, and staff.

You will integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to result in diagnostic information.

Responsibilities:

• Check rooms daily for adequate stock levels and update supply lists when needed
• Confirm patient identity with approved identifiers and prepare patients for procedures
• Verify patient’s pregnancy and informed consent statuses
• Assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure
• Determine type and dose of contrast agent to be administered based on the patient’s medical/physical status
• Provide clear and detailed information about the procedure to the patient, family, and others
• Maintain current knowledge of equipment, materials, medications, and processes
• Work independently and perform routine and complex procedures while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology skills
• Serve as an educational resource to others
• Applies ALARA principles, including use of technical factors, to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others
• Document fluoroscopic time, radiation exposure, incidents, variances, unusual circumstances, and/or patient concerns
• Apply patient safety principles during all aspects of radiographic procedures
• Report all equipment issues to Bio-Med
• Consult with radiologists and/or medical physicists with image quality issues
• Maintain positive lines of communication radiologists, leadership, nurses, peers, staff, and others
