Radiology Technologist - PRN (Non-Benefit Eligible)

Christie Clinic's department of Radiology is seeking a PRN (as needed, non-benefit eligible) Radiology Technologist at the University clinic, with the ability to cover other locations as needed. The hours are variable shifts between Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm.

Job Description

As a Radiology Technologist, you will perform diagnostic imaging procedures to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. Your expertise in radiographic equipment operation, patient care, and attention to detail are essential in providing accurate and compassionate healthcare.

Current certification, or working towards certification, with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) and Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) is required.

Essential Functions
  • Provide developmentally appropriate care for patients of all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Apply radiation protection principles for patients, self, and staff.
  • Verify patient identity and appropriateness of the exam.
  • Use knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques to produce quality images.
  • Determine appropriate exposure factors to optimize image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and accuracy.
  • Provide patient care during radiologic procedures.
  • Recognize emergency conditions and initiate basic life support when necessary.
Additional Duties
  • Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in examination rooms.
  • Perform minor adjustments and troubleshooting on radiology equipment.
  • Assist with contrast studies, including injections when trained and supervised by a radiologist.
  • Accurately record data in electronic medical records and PACS systems.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed to prevent hazards.
  • Train students and co-workers on equipment and procedures.
  • Operate office equipment and computer software efficiently.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and manual dexterity. Work is performed in a clinical setting with potential exposure to communicable diseases, radiation, and other hazards. Irregular hours may be required.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range is estimated and excludes fringe benefits and bonuses. Final offers depend on experience, skills, and qualifications. Benefits include vacation pay and a 401(k) plan.
