Job summary

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiologic procedures and operate x-ray equipment to produce diagnostic images, while ensuring patient safety and care.

You will apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation physics, and protection, maintain equipment, and collaborate with the care team to provide accurate, high-quality imaging and patient comfort throughout exams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation physics and protection.
• Skill in the use of imaging equipment.
• Ability to comply with radiation protection practices.
• Ability to alleviate patient anxiety.

Responsibilities

• Performs radiographic procedures to produce images of internal body organs and bones.
• Explains procedures to patient, obtains medical history, selects equipment settings and positions patient for optimal imaging.
• Views images to determine quality and forwards for review and interpretation, and maintains documentation.
• Maintains supplies and a clean work area; reports equipment malfunctions.
• Assumes responsibility for patient safety and provides physical and psychological comfort.
• Ensures compliance with workplace safety, environmental, exposure control, and infection control practices.
