Job summary

Job description

Job Description

Performs routine radiographic, fluoroscopic and portable examinations in the diagnostic department of Radiology, on nursing units, outpatient areas and the surgery department.

Responsibilities
  • Takes radiographs per physician orders.
  • Ensures 95% of films are satisfactory, as measured by repeat rate.
  • Completes exams following procedures in the routine book, including signing out requests with correct information.
  • Ensures all requests contain history pertinent to the ordered exam.
  • Is versatile within the diagnostic department of Radiology.
  • Can work independently in routine room, IVP, fluoroscopy, portable (c-arm and routine radiograph), and GU.
  • Performs all exams listed in the routine book.
  • Protects patients and employees from unnecessary radiation.
  • Uses appropriate technical factors and shielding, ensuring diagnostic quality without unnecessary exposure.
  • Guarantees coning and use of lead orientation markers on all films.
  • Has knowledge of front desk operations, computer systems, and reports all equipment problems to the manager and Clinical Engineers.
  • Schedules all exams across the department, alerting supervisors as needed.
  • Uses the centralized transport program for patient transportation.
  • Looks up pertinent information in computer systems related to patient exams, ordering, reprinting or canceling when necessary.
  • Interacts professionally with other departments.
  • Calls in needed on‑call imaging associates as required.
  • Reports all equipment problems to the clinical engineering 24‑hour phone number and communicates issues to co‑workers via written or verbal messages.
  • Alerts managers to all equipment problems (paging during on‑call periods) if necessary.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
  • Remains available for assignment as needed.
  • Assists Radiologic Technologist students.
  • Performs equipment quality assurance, regulatory compliance (ODH, Joint Commission), ordering of supplies, scheduling of staff, and departmental audits.
  • Accesses patient records in the course of normal operations to conduct imaging business, limited to records pertinent to patient care or regulatory requirements and only when necessary for duties.
  • Maintains confidentiality and protection of all records, documenting access in logs, EPIC, HIM, McKesson or other available media.

  • Proficiency in patient positioning and equipment operation (x‑ray machines and printers).
  • Must hold a valid Ohio license as a Radiographer and ARRT(R) certification within 4 weeks after the start date.
