Job summary

Hopedale Medical Complex seeks a Radiology Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging including X-ray, fluoroscopy, CT, and intraoperative imaging. You will maintain patient safety, explain procedures, and deliver high-quality images in a fast-paced environment.

The position is full-time night shift with weekend/holiday rotation as needed. Strong communication, patient care, and teamwork are essential to support the Medical Imaging department.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Current ARRT certification.
  • Active Illinois Radiologic Technology license.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Ability to work full-time night shift, including weekends/holidays.
  • Strong communication and patient-care skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify patients and confirm examinations align with orders.
  • Position patients and ensure safety and comfort during imaging.

Radiology Technologists perform a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-ray, fluoroscopy, CT, and intraoperative imaging. They play an essential role in providing accurate diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety and following established imaging protocols and radiation-safety standards.

As a frontline member of the Medical Imaging team, the Radiology Technologist is often one of the first points of contact for patients undergoing diagnostic procedures. The technologist is responsible for creating a positive patient experience, explaining procedures clearly, maintaining patient comfort and dignity, and ensuring imaging studies are performed safely, accurately, and efficiently.

This position is a full-time night-shift position and requires the ability to work the assigned night-shift schedule, including [rotating weekends/holidays, if applicable] .

Patient Care and Safety
  • Identify patients using established identification procedures and verify the examination ordered against the patient's clinical diagnosis and demographic information.
  • Assess the patient's condition and determine appropriate positioning, support, and safety measures for the examination.
  • Provide safe, compassionate, and professional patient care throughout the imaging process.
  • Explain imaging procedures clearly to patients and answer questions within the scope of the position.
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, comfort, and confidentiality.
  • Follow established patient-safety, infection-control, radiation-safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Prioritize patient care based on physician orders, patient condition, and department needs, including responding appropriately to urgent and critical-care situations.
Technical Imaging Operations
  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures accurately and efficiently in accordance with established department protocols.
  • Perform examinations involving X-ray, fluoroscopy, CT, and intraoperative imaging, as qualified and assigned.
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure appropriate anatomical orientation and identification are included on required images.
  • Present completed examinations to the appropriate technical staff and communicate pertinent patient or examination information to members of the healthcare team.
  • Recognize examinations requiring additional or limited imaging and document pertinent information appropriately.
  • Maintain awareness of radiation exposure and consistently follow established radiation-safety practices.
  • Operate imaging and related equipment safely and appropriately.
Documentation and Medical Records
  • Accurately document patient information, examination details, and other required information in the appropriate computer systems and medical records.
  • Complete all required computer functions related to examination documentation, charges, and patient records.
  • Maintain accurate and timely Medical Imaging records, including Radiology, Vascular, and Echo Lab records as assigned.
  • File and distribute Radiology reports according to department protocol in the absence of office personnel.
  • Perform office-related duties in the absence of office staff as needed.
Department Operations
  • Contribute to efficient department operations through punctuality, effective time management, and timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to HMC and department dress-code standards.
  • Participate in mandatory education, in-service programs, competency assessments, and continuing education as required.
  • Participate in the training and orientation of new employees.
  • Maintain appropriate supplies and assist with department organization as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Medical Imaging Department and overall patient care.
Communication and Confidentiality
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA and HMC privacy policies.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, physicians, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare team members.
  • Communicate pertinent findings, patient concerns, examination limitations, or other relevant information to the appropriate healthcare personnel.
  • Maintain professionalism and composure in a fast-paced healthcare environment, including during emergency situations.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited or approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current and valid Illinois Radiologic Technology license.
  • Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Ability and willingness to work the assigned full-time night-shift schedule.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as required by department scheduling needs.
  • Strong communication, organizational, technical, and patient-care skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CT certification or experience.
  • Fluoroscopy experience.
  • Experience with intraoperative imaging.
  • Previous hospital or acute-care radiology experience.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and medical imaging systems.

CT certification is welcomed but not required.
