Job Description

Freestanding Emergency Room in DeSoto, TX is seeking to hire CT/Radiology Technologists for day and night shifts. Job Summary: Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiography and CT scans of the body for diagnostic purposes. Additionally, assists physicians and registered nurses with basic patient care within the scope of practice under the direct supervision of the Nursing Director.

Essential Functions:
  1. Provides supportive care to patients under the direction of the registered nurse in charge and/or physician.
  2. Performs patient skill sets such as taking height and weight measurements, vital signs, IV initiations, blood draws, and documentation to assist the nurse and physician with patient care.
  3. Performs diagnostic testing using x-ray and/or CT scan equipment according to protocol.
  4. Produces quality images and uploads them for radiology reads/interpretations.
  5. Applies proper techniques and practices during diagnostic testing using radiology equipment and lab procedures.
  6. Reports lab and radiology results immediately to the registered nurse and/or physician.
  7. Assists registered nurses and physicians with assessments, examinations, and treatments.
  8. Performs other duties such as crutch walking, dressing changes, and assisting with splint or cast application.
  9. Assists with moving, ambulating, and lifting patients as needed.
  10. Communicates effectively with documentation and with coworkers, patients, visitors, and physicians.
  11. Maintains a clean and safe environment by assisting with cleaning and preparing rooms between patients and procedures.
  12. May assist with office duties such as registration, filing, shredding, scanning, and data entry as needed.
  13. Monitors and restocks supplies as needed.
  14. Follows policies and procedures established by regulatory standards.
  15. Participates in performance improvement activities.
  16. Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and supports team members.
  17. Attends staff meetings and training sessions regularly.
  18. Engages in ongoing professional development through educational programs and workshops.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned by the Nurse Director.
Professional Requirements:
  • Maintains a neat and professional appearance according to dress code standards.
  • Maintains all required certifications and licenses per regulatory standards.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Follows regulatory requirements for radiology and lab procedures.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Attends all scheduled staff meetings.
  • Represents the organization professionally in the community.
  • Adheres to organizational policies and ethical practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility effectively.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate’s degree in Applied Science or equivalent with diploma/certification from an accredited Radiology Technologist program.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Radiology Technologist in a hospital or emergency room setting.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:
  • ARRT Certification in X-ray and CT required.
  • CPR/BLS Certification required.
  • Current license from the Texas Department of State Health Service for Radiology Technologist required.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to bend, lift, twist, stand, and walk for up to 12 hours daily.
Work Environment:
  • Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues; involves physical exertion and hazardous conditions.
