Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a per diem Radiology Technologist for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. In this role, you'll perform radiography and angiography procedures, ensuring adherence to standards while assisting in interventional cardiology procedures.

Qualified candidates will be graduates of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program with BLS and ACLS certifications. You'll work collaboratively within a dynamic team and participate in ensuring patient safety and procedural accuracy.

Compensation ranges from $46.43 to $69.00 per hour, with various benefits aimed at supporting employee well-being.

Job description

Position Summary

Radiology Technologist will perform radiography and angiography procedures under the supervision of the Administrative Director in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.

Responsibilities
  • Use knowledge of A/P and cardiac procedures to document in appropriate clinical systems.
  • Flush sheaths and maintain sheath integrity to ensure proper homeostasis.
  • Introduce catheters into vessel structures in accordance with current CDIC standard operating procedures.
  • Obtain hemodynamic and angiographic data by operating transducer and manifold.
  • Assist in the operation of mechanical atherectomy, thrombectomy, and intravascular lithotripsy devices.
  • Position, inflate, and deflate balloons and stents under direct physician order.
  • Assist with all balloon, catheter, sheath, and wire exchanges.
  • Perform proper post-arterial and venous access care and management, including mechanized closure devices or manual compression.
  • Convey pertinent patient history to the physician in accordance with current pre‑ and post‑care policies.
  • Capture all required documentation for procedures in clinical systems, maintain database accuracy, and assist MD with procedure reports.
  • Operate and troubleshoot complex cardiac catheterization equipment, including but not limited to Impella, IABP, Angio Jet, ACT, Hemochron, OCT, IVUS, RFR, IFR, FFR, Cath Works, CSI, and IVL.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date quality control for radiation safety and participate in annual radiation safety in‑services.

Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Experience level depends on current staff composition and business unit needs at the time of posting.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Current RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist), ARRT (C1), or equivalent certification or achieved within 2 years of employment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab or interventional experience.
  • Proficiency in advanced hemodynamics, device management, and coronary interventions.
  • Prior experience assisting in high‑acuity interventions (IABP, Impella, Swan‑Ganz).
  • Willingness to train the right candidate.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

Strong knowledge of coronary anatomy, interventional devices, and procedural techniques. Ability to anticipate physician needs and respond quickly in critical situations. Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills. High technical competency with imaging systems, intraprocedural monitoring, arterial and venous access management.

Compensation Range

$46.43 – $69.00 per hour
