Position Summary

At Baptist Health Shelby Hospital, we provide quality patient care by performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention, while adhering to radiation safety principles.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy and/or physiology for interpretation and/or intervention.
  2. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor conducive to quality care.
  3. Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring the successful completion of procedures.
  4. Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations for each modality.
  5. Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
  6. Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs.
  7. Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  8. Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and ensures accurate documentation.
  9. Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices; manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
  10. Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring all relevant anatomy is demonstrated.
  11. Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and others.
  12. Complies with Quality Control standards and participates in related tasks.
  13. Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration.
  14. Administers medical aid in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and other emergencies.
  15. Uses standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
  16. Assists in supervising student technologists and training new technologists.
  17. Utilizes all corporate radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  18. Ensures the safety of all patients and staff.
  19. Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and applicable laws.
  20. Maintains compliance with all policies, guidelines, and educational requirements.
Other Related Functions
  1. Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  2. Keeps work areas well-stocked and organized.
  3. Provides patient transport as needed.
Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.

Licensure/Certification

  • Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Alabama, if required.
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
