At Baptist Health Shelby Hospital, we provide quality patient care by performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention, while adhering to radiation safety principles.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy and/or physiology for interpretation and/or intervention.
- Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor conducive to quality care.
- Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring the successful completion of procedures.
- Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations for each modality.
- Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
- Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs.
- Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
- Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and ensures accurate documentation.
- Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices; manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
- Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring all relevant anatomy is demonstrated.
- Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and others.
- Complies with Quality Control standards and participates in related tasks.
- Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration.
- Administers medical aid in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and other emergencies.
- Uses standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
- Assists in supervising student technologists and training new technologists.
- Utilizes all corporate radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
- Ensures the safety of all patients and staff.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and applicable laws.
- Maintains compliance with all policies, guidelines, and educational requirements.
Other Related Functions
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
- Keeps work areas well-stocked and organized.
- Provides patient transport as needed.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
Licensure/Certification
- Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Alabama, if required.
- Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
