Job summary

UPMC Mercy Health Center is seeking a Flex Full-time Radiology Technologist to perform diagnostic radiography, manage imaging equipment, and document patient history in the RIS/ISITE system. The role requires clear patient communication and teamwork within the imaging department to support high-quality care.

Rotating daylight, evening, and overnight shifts with every-other weekend work and no on-call travel. Training for new grads is provided; salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Experience performing diagnostic radiography procedures and operating imaging equipment.
• Ability to identify patients using two identifiers and follow safety protocols.
• Proficient documentation of patient history and orders in electronic records (RIS/ISITE).

Work Schedule

• Flex full-time schedule that can fluctuate between 28-40 hours per week depending on business needs. Scheduling discussed in advance!


• Rotating daylight, evening, and overnight shifts.


• Weekend shifts every other weekend.


• Holiday rotation, as needed.


• No on-call or travel required!

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on individual experience and education, at manager discretion.

Applicants with at least 6 months of experience are eligible for our Night Program ($4.00 shift differential) and our Weekend Program (additional 15% incentive to salary)! Details can be provided during the interview process!

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic radiography procedures and utilizes complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, and documentation of image data according to protocol.


• Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers.


• Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, and explains procedures to help allay the patient’s fears and solicit their cooperation.


• Reviews patient history, assesses physician orders, and documents patient history in electronic record, as required.


• Administers PO and rectal contrast per physician orders/department policy.


• Ensures all exams within area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.


• Demonstrates the ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.


• Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
