Job summary

The Radiology Technologist at Shriners Children’s performs diagnostic imaging with patient safety and high-quality images in mind. You will position patients, use imaging equipment, and ensure image quality for diagnosis.

In this role you’ll work with radiologists and physicians, follow ALARA guidelines, and document imaging results while pursuing ongoing professional growth and development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Associate's or certificate in Radiologic Technology.
• Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
• ARRT certification/registration required.
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assess orders for accuracy and clarify with provider prior to imaging.
• Position patients to produce quality radiographic images.
• Follow radiation safety guidelines and ALARA principles.
• Operate imaging equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
• Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to aid diagnosis.
• Document and communicate patient images to the medical team.
• Maintain professional growth and development.

Job Description Job Summary

The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring patient safety and high-quality images for diagnosis at The Shriners Hospital for Children.

Key Responsibilities

• Assesses orders for accuracy and clarifies with provider prior to imaging, if necessary (correct patient, correct CPT code, correct body part, correct side, correct views).
• Responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality radiographic image is produced.
• Practices appropriate radiation safety as designated in Federal and State Radiation Control Regulations.
• Practices A.L.A.R.A at all times.
• Ensures equipment is properly functioning and reports any potential problems or malfunctions to the appropriate contact(s).
• Works closely with radiologists and physicians who interpret images to either diagnose or rule out disease or injury.
• Responsible for communication and documentation of patient images.
• Maintain communication with patients, parents, and medical personnel.
• Maintains on-going plan for personal growth and self-development.
• Demonstrates competent technical skills in the use of imaging equipment, quality control and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrates professional role requirements related to communication with peers and supervisor and flexibility during unexpected work related events.

Required Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED
• Associate's in Radiologic Technology or Certificate in Radiologic Technology
• Must be a graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
• Must hold both the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification/registration and Massachusetts Board of of Registration of Radiation Therapy state license
• Must be Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• One year pediatric and/or orthopedic radiology experience

The pay range for this position is $32.15 - $48.23. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
