Job Summary

Operates radiology equipment and performs routine diagnostic procedures as prescribed by physicians according to established standards and practices in order to aid in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease.

Responsibilities
  • Performs radiologic procedures using appropriate technical and safety methods as requested by a licensed physician.
  • Exercises judgment in selecting and computing settings for each patient.
  • Develops an appropriate procedure/treatment plan.
  • Implements procedure/treatment plan utilizing established hospital protocols/guidelines.
  • Completes documentation as required to comply with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintains equipment, procedure/treatment rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities to ensure patient care is consistent with established standards. Collects quality data for monitoring performance improvement.
  • Completes assigned goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Specifications
Experience
  • Experience as obtained through the completion of a Radiology Technology Program.
Education
  • Completion of a formal education program in radiography accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARRT. Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with current Registry in Radiography ARRT(R) or a new graduate waiting to take the registry.
  • Preferred: Associates degree in related field.
Training
  • Preferred/Desired
Special Skills
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Radiologic principles/theory. Utilizes the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal procedures/treatments as demonstrated by procedure/treatment results.
  • Ability to receive and follow written and oral instructions; ability to plan and organize work.
Licensure
  • ARRT(R); BLS Certification within 14 days of hire. New graduates will obtain the required registry within 120 days of hire. State license as required.
