Perform routine radiographic, fluoroscopic, and portable examinations in the diagnostic department of Radiology, nursing units, outpatient areas, and the surgery department.
Job Responsibilities
- Take radiographs as per physician orders.
- Be versatile within the diagnostic department of Radiology.
- Protect patients and employees from unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Possess knowledge of front desk operations, computer systems, and report equipment problems to the manager and Clinical Engineers.
- Schedule all exams throughout the department and alert a supervisor when necessary.
- Utilize the centralized transport program for patient transportation.
- Access and manage pertinent information in computer systems regarding patient exams, including ordering, reprinting, or canceling when necessary.
- Interact professionally with other departments.
- Call in on-call imaging associates as required.
- Communicate equipment problems to the clinical engineering 24-hour phone line and inform co-workers through written or verbal messages.
- Alert managers to equipment problems during on-call periods if necessary.
- Remain available for assignment as needed.
- Assist Radiologic Technologist Students.
- Perform duties related to equipment quality assurance, regulatory compliance (ODH, Joint Commission), ordering of supplies, scheduling staff, and conducting hospital and departmental audits.
- Access patient records during normal operations to conduct medical imaging business.
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation, and sterile techniques/procedures.
- Proficiency in patient positioning and equipment operation (x-ray machines and printers).
Education
- Graduation from an ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology school.
Certifications & Licensure
- ARRT
- BLS (American Heart Association)
