General Summary of Position
Radiology Technologist – work in MedStar Health Urgent Care under physician supervision. Responsible for patient intake, standing orders, venipuncture, laboratory testing, medication administration, administrative documentation, X‑ray image transmission, and maintaining optimal patient flow.
Primary Duties
- Adhere to MedStar Health Code of Conduct, compliance plans, and regulations. Complete scheduled training including safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR, EMR, general compliance.
- Cleans, stocks, sterilizes equipment, cleans and prepares patient rooms.
- Deliver patient care consistent with policy while prioritizing safety and quality.
- Accept new technology and use the electronic health record. Manage patient flow with frequent communication.
- Perform spirometry/PFTs, vitals, BMI, EKGs, vision and hearing tests, splinting, and general patient care under provider supervision.
- Follow up on lab tests, patient experience, and clinical results.
- Perform venipuncture and selected laboratory testing; initiate care pathways per policy.
- Perform and transmit X‑ray images; forward to appropriate radiologist for overread. Maintain equipment and adhere to safety standards.
- Serve as patient escort and assist in discharge, ensuring clarity for patients and families.
- Support team during downtime; assist with front‑desk intake skills and medical provider support.
- Prepare and administer oral medication and injectable medications per provider orders after demonstrating competency.
Qualifications
- Associate degree.
- Completion of an approved RT program.
- Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting.
- Preferred: 2 years medical office experience.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification.
- Valid Maryland, Virginia, or DC state license.
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
Compensation and Benefits
Signing bonus: $10,000.
Hourly wage: USD $29.73 – $53.49.
