Job summary

Trinity Health MI is seeking a part-time Radiology professional to operate diagnostic imaging equipment and obtain high-quality digital images for physician interpretation. You will verify patient identity, prepare for procedures, ensure radiation safety, and support clerical and clinical staff.

The role requires radiology technology training, CPR, and ARRT registration, with bone densitometry certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology (or equivalent) required.
  • Current CPR certification and ARRT registration are required.
  • Bone density certification by ISCD or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Job description

This position offers a $1,000 sign‑on bonus.

Hours of Operation: M-F, 8am-10pm; Sat/Sun, 8am-8pm.

Shift: Rotating Shift.

Employment Type: Part time.

Position Description

This position operates diagnostic imaging equipment to obtain quality digital images of designated body portions for interpretation by physicians.

Essential Job Functions
  • Confirms patient identity is correct, checks in patients and schedules appointments.
  • Creates Radiology Module, greets and escorts patients to examination room.
  • Interprets patient histories and physician instructions.
  • Prepares patients for procedures utilizing aseptic and sterile technique.
  • Positions patients for radiologic examination.
  • Selects exposure factors, takes exposure and processes images.
  • Practices radiation protection.
  • Operates diagnostic bone density equipment to obtain pertinent information per ISCD criteria.
  • Records pertinent information on requisitions.
  • Directly enters medication, laboratory, and/or radiology orders into the electronic medical record.
  • Responds to patient emergencies as needed.
  • Cleans work area, examination rooms and equipment and performs limited maintenance.
  • Performs image‑management duties within PACS and NextGen.
  • Documents patient information accurately and timely.
  • Completes check‑out duties and ensures encounter forms are completed fully.
  • Sends letters and reminders to patients.
  • Serves as liaison between patient and physician.
  • Ensures timely and courteous follow‑up regarding patient questions.
  • Maintains compliance with government and reimburser requirements and clinic standards of care.
  • Provides support to clerical and clinical staff and providers as needed.
  • When supporting clerical staff, tasks may include answering phones, messaging, completing medical record requests and working the fax server/mail.
  • When supporting clinical staff, tasks are per Clinical Support Staff Scope of Practice document.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and works within scope of Radiology Technology and/or Clinical Densitometry certification/registration/licensure.

Essential Qualifications
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology or equivalent education and experience; for those obtaining bone density images, graduation from an accredited school of clinical densitometry technology or equivalent.
  • Credentials/Licensure: Valid CPR certification; valid registration by American Registry of Radiologic Technology; for bone density images, valid certification by International Society of Clinical Densitometry or ability to become certified within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum Experience: 1–2 years of experience.
  • Position Requirements (Abilities & Skills): Knowledge of patient care/radiology procedures and policies; ability to practice radiation protection; proficient in medical terminology; ability to perform necessary calculations; proficient in operating a desktop and Windows‑based system including EMR, email, e‑learning, intranet, MS Word and Excel; ability to use other required software; excellent communication skills; collaborative team orientation; courteous and friendly; ability to work with diverse populations; cross‑train in other areas of practice; excellent organization and time management; sound judgement and problem solving; ability to handle confidential information; knowledge of compliance aspects of clinical care and patient privacy; successful completion of IHA competency‑based program during introductory and training period; ability to travel to other sites and training locations.
Minimum Physical Expectations

Physical activity that often requires keyboarding, phone work and charting, extensive computer time; handling and lifting patients, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling, twisting; lifting, pushing/pulling over 50 lbs; sometimes 100 lbs; vision requirements; manual dexterity for office equipment; hearing and speaking adequate for business.

Minimum Environmental Expectations

This job operates in a medical facility requiring regular walking. Employees work where patient care equipment is located. Hazardous materials such as bloodborne pathogens and fluids present; exposure to sharps, X‑rays, patient conditions; possible unpleasant sights, smells, and contagious diseases. Requires significant interaction with people which can be stressful.
