Job summary

Advocate Health’s radiology department seeks a PRN Transport Aide to support imaging services in Cleveland Imaging. You will escort patients and families, manage transport workflows, and assist with admissions to reduce delays in radiology workflows.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to handle physical tasks, and collaboration with radiologists and nursing staff. Per diem schedule supports flexible hospital coverage.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of ARRT-recognized Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registry eligible with registry completion within 1 year of hire date.
  • BLS required.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients, guests, and visitors to destination using ambulatory equipment, beds, cribs, stretchers, and wheelchairs.
  • Operates the hospital paging system and coordinates transport as assigned.
  • Uses the hospital telephone system for transport tracking and status updates.
  • Assists nursing and clinical staff with transferring patients to transport equipment.
  • Transports and orients admissions to rooms and departments.
  • Provides directions to guests and family members; assists in locating patients.
  • Verifies outpatient registration and directs transport to appropriate clinics.
  • Retrieves, cleans, and stores unused transport equipment.

Performs with minimal supervision radiographic examinations under the direction of the Radiologist. Coordinates daily activities including performing examinations and associated clerical duties.

Major Responsibilities
  • Escorts patients, guests, and visitors to points of destination using ambulatory, beds, cribs, stretchers, and wheelchairs.
  • Possesses knowledge and appropriate use of hospital paging system.
  • Uses hospital telephone system as it relates to transport tracking to accept transport orders, put jobs in progress and complete jobs.
  • Assists nursing and various clinical staff with the transferring of patients from bed to transport equipment.
  • Transports and provides room orientation for admissions.
  • Provides directional information to guests and visitors and patient location to patient's family members and guests.
  • Verifies registration of outpatients and transport to appropriate departments or clinics.
  • Retrieves, cleans, and stores all unused patient transport equipment.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education

Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic Technology.

Certification / License

Must be registry eligible with registry completion within 1 year of hire date. BLS required

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and demonstrates

the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Requires strenuous physical effort while assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers. Handles equipment and monitors supplies. Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with patients and hospital staff required. May frequently be required to stretch, bend, twist, squat or kneel in operating radiographic equipment. Will be required to use hands for power gripping, speed work and precision during manipulation of radiographic equipment and in the case of injured or diseased patients. Vision and hearing for distances of up to 10 feet is necessary.
