Job summary

Guthrie Corning Hospital is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to join the Imaging Services team. The role offers a $25,000 sign-on bonus, full-time status, and 3 shifts per week within a single hospital setting, promoting flexibility and professional growth.

You will operate radiographic equipment, ensure patient safety and image quality, and collaborate with a supportive team while maintaining a consistent schedule and pathway to advanced roles.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program or ARRT-certified non-accredited program.
• ARRT certification within 6 months of employment.
• NYS Radiologic Technologist License or Temporary Permit required for NY positions.
• Minimum six months' experience as a registered technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate stationary and portable x-ray equipment and adjust settings for examinations.
• Position patients accurately to obtain quality radiographs.
• Perform QA on images and ensure proper labeling (left/right, patient name, date/time).
• Provide patient care related to radiology and follow infection-control protocols.
• Utilize Radiology Information System for scheduling, tracking and documentation.
• Collaborate with technologists, nurses and healthcare professionals to maintain high radiology standards.
• Attend in-service programs and be willing to non-routine assignments.
• Lift, push, reach, bend and stand; work across all shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Position Summary:

Operate stationary and portable x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated regions of the body.

Education, License & Certification:

Graduation of an ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology program and must obtain ARRT certification within 6 months of employment.

OR a graduate from an ARRT non-accredited program and must provide ARRT certification prior to employment.

NYS Radiologic Technologist License or NYS Radiologic Technologist Temporary Permit required for positions in New York State.

Experience:

Minimum of six months preferred as a registered technologist

Essential Functions:

A. A. Performs diagnostic radiologic procedures 1. Adjust radiographic equipment to correct settings for each examination. 2. Accurate positioning of patients to fully utilize photometer. 3. Performs appropriate QA on images generated prior to submission to Radiologist. This includes accurate labeling of left or right side, patient name, B#, date and time, as well as technique. B. Proficient in-patient care activities as related to radiology 1. Ability to relate to patient’s information pertaining to ordered procedures. 2. Follow protocols in dealing with patients with infectious diseases. 3. Demonstrate competency in patient preparation including informed consent, and injection of IV contrast. C. Knowledgeable in the correct use of the Radiology Information System, scheduling, tracking, completion, down-time procedures. D. Works as part of a team to maintain high standards in radiology. 1. Attends in-service programs as scheduled. 2. Ability to work cooperatively with other technologists, nurses and healthcare professionals. 3. Works to keep morale high, does not complain to him/herself but works at finding a solution to a particular problem. 4. Seeks help and answers to questions when they are not sure. 5. Performs examinations in a confident, timely fashion. 6. Provides for patient’s modesty, comfort and privacy. 7. Demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments, as appropriate.

Other Duties:

A. Cleaning and restocking rooms daily. B. Ability to deal with stressful situations (e.g. trauma) C. Reports problems occurring with equipment to Coordinator or Director of Imaging. D. Must be able to transport portable equipment to operating room suite, emergency room, nursing units, and morgue. E. Meets regularly at Radiology departmental meetings. F. Must have ability to react quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady while standing for procedures, if unsafe situation occurs (such as a fire), getting the patient to safety and sounding alarm. G. Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, on a scheduled basis. H. Must be able to lift, push, reach, bend, stoop, and walk in order to care for patients. I.
