Job summary

Qualifications

Description

The Radiology Technologist I performs routine diagnostic radiologic procedures in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and established safety standards to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Operates radiographic equipment, prepares and positions patients for imaging procedures, and ensures high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

Provides age-appropriate care to patients across the lifespan and adheres to all regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention requirements.

Assists with the clinical training, orientation, and evaluation of radiology students, serving as a resource and role model to support their educational development and competency achievement.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registry eligible upon hire.
  • Current Mississippi Medical Radiation Technologist License required.
  • Current certification and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
Special Qualifications
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and initiative in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Available to participate in on-call rotation and respond to call-back requirements as needed.
  • Ability to perform portable radiographic procedures and operate C-arm fluoroscopic equipment in the operating room and other patient care areas as required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety principles and infection prevention practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, students, and other healthcare team members.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the workday.
  • Frequent lifting, transferring, repositioning, and assisting patients.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and maneuvering of portable radiographic equipment.
  • Ability to assist patients on and off examination tables, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate imaging equipment, computer systems, and related devices.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of equipment, supplies, and accessories.
