Job summary

Waco Family Medicine – Temple is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to provide high-quality diagnostic radiography services. You will independently manage daily imaging operations, ensuring patient safety and comfort while collaborating with clinicians and staff.

Responsibilities include image quality review, proper documentation, and adherence to HIPAA and safety standards. TX MRT license, ARRT(R), and BLS are required; outpatient imaging experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
  • Current ARRT registration in Radiography (RT(R)).
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
  • Outpatient or ambulatory imaging experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations per protocols and ALARA principles.
  • Verify patient identity, orders, indications, and pregnancy status when applicable.
  • Explain procedures and provide compassionate patient care throughout exams.
  • Position patients and select technical factors for diagnostic images; review images for quality.
  • Maintain documentation and transmit images through PACS/EMR; follow workflow for routine, urgent, STAT exams.

Essential FunctionsPerforms diagnostic radiographic examinations according to established protocols, positioning standards, and departmental procedures.Verifies patient identity, imaging orders, clinical indications, and pregnancy status when applicable.Explains procedures and provides professional, compassionate care throughout the patient experience.Positions patients and selects appropriate technical factors to obtain diagnostic-quality images while following ALARA principles.Reviews images for positioning, technical quality, and diagnostic acceptability before completing examinations.Maintains accurate documentation and ensures images and examinations are appropriately transmitted through PACS and the electronic medical record.Follows established workflows for routine, urgent, and STAT imaging and communicates appropriately with providers, radiologists, and clinical staff.Maintains the X-ray room, equipment, and work area in accordance with safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.Performs required equipment quality control activities and promptly reports equipment, image-quality, or safety concerns to the Director of Radiology.Maintains appropriate imaging supplies and assists with inventory management.Complies with WFM policies, HIPAA requirements, radiation safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.Participates in departmental quality improvement activities, required training, and continuing education.Assists with scheduling, patient workflow, and other Radiology department functions as needed.Provides imaging services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.Provides coverage at other WFM locations as operational needs require.Performs other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.Key Success FactorsProduces consistently high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient and radiation safety.Works independently and manages daily imaging operations with minimal routine supervision.Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and appropriately escalates clinical, technical, or operational concerns.Provides courteous, compassionate, and professional patient care.Communicates effectively with patients, providers, radiologists, and clinic staff.Maintains accurate and timely documentation.Demonstrates reliability, accountability, organization, and attention to detail.Adapts effectively to changes in patient volume, scheduling, and operational priorities.Contributes positively to teamwork and the overall efficiency of Radiology and clinic operations.Radiologic TechnologistReports To: Director of RadiologyLocation: Waco Family Medicine – TempleShift: Day Shift, 8-hour shiftStatus: Full-TimePosition SummaryThe Radiologic Technologist serves as the primary X-ray technologist for the WFM Temple location and is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and high-quality diagnostic radiography services.
