Job summary

Community First Medical Center in Chicago, IL seeks a radiology technologist to perform all radiographic procedures under general supervision for diagnosis and treatment within the licensed scope.

Full-time or part-time roles available with 7:00–3:30 or 3:00–11:30 shifts, every other weekend. New grads welcome; emphasis on safety, positioning, and patient education. EOE.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an approved Radiology Technology program.
  • IEMA license required; ARRT registration or eligible.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with hospital information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general diagnostic radiology procedures and contrast administration per policy.
  • Verifies orders, explains procedures, and educates patients as appropriate.
  • Performs equipment tests and safety checks; reports malfunctions.
  • Documents in departmental records accurately and promptly.
  • Communicates patient changes to radiologists and supervisors.
  • Provides staff and student education and orientation as needed.

Description

The tech will perform all radiographic procedures while under the general supervision of a licensed practitioner for the purposes of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders at a technical level not requiring constant supervision and within the scope of their license.

Opportunity for Full Time and Part Time

7am - 3:30pm or 3pm- 11:30pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs all general diagnostic radiology procedures and administration of contrast media with appropriate application of technical and positioning protocols, safety procedures, radiation protection, and proper image identifying criteria according to department policy and procedure.
  2. Verifies physician orders for instructions from requesting physician and consults with the radiologists as necessary. Explains procedure and provides education as appropriate.
  3. Performs equipment warm up, calibration and safety check as needed. Operates hospital computer system. Reports to supervisor any equipment malfunctions. Operates equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines for appropriate quality control.
  4. Responsible for departmental records. Accurately and promptly documents in departmental records (film, file and computer) patient name, exam date, film/image markers, clinical history, complaints, allergies, etc. May prepare file for processing to radiologist. Collects statistics as directed.
  5. Communicates reactions, complications, changes in condition etc. to radiologist, physician, supervisor, peers and nursing unit as necessary.
  6. Performs staff/student education and orientation duties as needed
