Job summary

OrthoCincy is seeking a student X-ray technologist to support the radiology department in a patient‑centered orthopaedic setting. You will work under the supervision of a licensed radiographer within the department, assisting with procedures and patient prep.

You will read charts, relay orders, operate X-ray equipment, and help maintain safety, records, and supplies. Weekend and evening availability is required; CPR/First Aid is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and a temporary student radiography license in the state of employment.
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited radiography program and at least 50% completed.
  • Endorsed by the program director with established supervision at a health care facility.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist radiology department under supervision of a licensed radiographer.
  • Clean and prep radiology rooms and prepare patients for procedures.
  • Read charts and relay physician orders to staff; operate X-ray equipment.
  • Maintain radiographic fields and ensure patient safety and HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintain EHR and PACS records; assist with supplies and minor repairs as needed.
  • Adhere to department policies; assist with overtime and weekend scheduling.

Description

Contributes in the delivery of excellent orthopaedic care in a patient centered environment while focusing on their individual needs. Responsible for assisting the radiology department as a student X‑Ray technologist. Shall be under the supervision of a licensed radiographer that is immediately available and physically present within the department.

General Summary

Contributes in the delivery of excellent orthopaedic care in a patient centered environment while focusing on their individual needs. Responsible for assisting the radiology department as a student X‑Ray technologist. Shall be under the supervision of a licensed radiographer that is immediately available and physically present within the department.

Essential Job Functions
  • Cleaning and prepping of the rooms.
  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.
  • Reads patients' charts and relay physicians orders to other staff members.
  • Operates and maintains X-Ray equipment.
  • Performs static X-Ray exams according to provider protocols and other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the Practice.
  • Identifying correct patient and procedure, verifying demographic information with patient and comparing that to system records.
  • Maintain all radiographic fields completely and accurately.
  • Complies with safety standards, OSHA and HIPAA.
  • Cleans, maintains and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining needed repairs.
  • Maintains radiographic supplies, and orders as necessary.
  • Consistently able to take direction from the radiology tech and use good judgment.
  • Protecting the safety of all patients, guests and technologists by following established department protocol in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Adheres to all organization and department policies and procedures (includes policy handbook) to contribute to the efficiency of the office and organization.
  • Maintain records within the company Electronic Health Record System (EHR) as well as the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Takes initiative in performing additional tasks that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.
Requirements

Education/Experience: High school diploma. Must have a temporary student radiography license in the state they are working. Must be actively enrolled and in good academic standing in an accredited radiography program and completed at least 50% of the program, Must be endorsed by the program director with established supervision at a health care facility.

Other Requirements: CPR/AED and First Aid Certification preferred. Schedules will change as department needs change, including overtime and weekends. Travel as needed. Available weekends and evenings.

Equipment Operated: Radiological equipment.

Work Environment: Radiological unit.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Standing and walking 90 % of the time. Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to remain focused and attentive without distractions (i.e. personal devices). There are occasions when kneeling, stooping, bending or reaching may be necessary. Ability lift 50 pounds.
