Job summary

Cynet Health in Murfreesboro, TN is seeking an Echo Technician to perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations, obtain high-quality images, and calculate essential cardiac measurements. The role requires a current BLS certification and ARDMS RDCS or CCI (RCS) credentials, with at least 1 year of experience.

The Echo Tech will work in a fast-paced acute-care environment, collaborating with cardiologists and nurses to ensure accurate, timely patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited cardiac sonography, cardiovascular technology, or diagnostic medical sonography program.
• Strong experience performing independent adult transthoracic echocardiograms.
• Proficiency with 2D, M-mode, color Doppler, spectral Doppler, and associated cardiac measurements.
• Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and common cardiovascular disease processes.
• Ability to recognize technically limited studies and obtain alternative views when necessary.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced acute-care environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive adult transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) according to facility protocols and established standards.
• Obtain high-quality 2D, M-mode, color-flow, pulsed-wave, and continuous-wave Doppler images.
• Accurate cardiac measurements and calculations including evaluation of ventricular function, chamber size, wall motion, valves, and hemodynamics.
• Recognize normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology; communicate significant findings promptly.
• Assist with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) and stress echocardiography when required.
• Review patient history and prior studies to select appropriate examination techniques.
• Maintain documentation and ensure proper transfer/storage of images and data.

Description:The Echocardiography Technologist (Echo Tech) performs diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations to assist in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular conditions.The Echo Tech is responsible for obtaining high-quality diagnostic images and performing required measurements and calculations.They must recognize abnormal cardiac findings and communicate critical findings appropriately.Key responsibilities include performing comprehensive adult transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) according to facility protocols and established standards.Obtaining high-quality 2D, M-mode, color-flow, pulsed-wave, and continuous-wave Doppler images is essential.Accurate cardiac measurements and calculations including evaluation of ventricular function, chamber size, wall motion, valves, and hemodynamics are required.The Echo Tech must recognize normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.They will identify significant or potentially critical findings and communicate them promptly according to department protocol.Assisting physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) and other advanced echocardiography procedures as required is part of the role.Performing or assisting with stress echocardiograms when applicable is also important.Reviewing patient history and previous cardiac studies ensures that appropriate examination techniques are utilized.Positioning patients appropriately and modifying imaging techniques based on patient condition, body habitus, and clinical indications is necessary.Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of examinations, measurements, and preliminary findings is essential.It is important to ensure images and measurements are properly transferred and stored within the imaging system.Maintaining and troubleshooting ultrasound equipment while reporting equipment concerns appropriately is a responsibility.Following infection-prevention, patient-identification, and safety standards is critical.Collaborating effectively with cardiologists, nurses, physicians, and other members of the cardiovascular care team is expected.Maintaining efficient patient flow while ensuring diagnostic image quality and patient safety is a key function of the role.Recent acute-care hospital Echo Tech experience and familiarity with cardiac imaging systems is preferred.Experience with both inpatient and outpatient echocardiography is advantageous.Experience assisting with TEE procedures, stress echocardiography, and performing portable studies in high-acuity settings is desirable.The ideal candidate is an experienced cardiac sonographer who can independently perform high-quality diagnostic echocardiograms with minimal supervision.The technologist should be comfortable working with patients across varying levels of acuity and be able to recognize significant cardiac abnormalities.They must be able to elevate findings appropriately.
