Description:The Echo Tech is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic echocardiographic procedures under the direction of a Cardiologist.This role involves the use of ultrasound equipment to assess cardiac structures and function.Essential information for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions is provided through these procedures.
The responsibilities include performing transthoracic (TTE), transesophageal (TEE), and stress echocardiograms as ordered per protocol.Compliance with American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) guidelines and physician orders is essential.The Echo Tech will operate ultrasound and diagnostic imaging equipment to acquire high-quality cardiac images.This includes utilizing contrast agents such as Definity and agitated bubble techniques when appropriate.
Collaboration closely with the Cardiologist and other healthcare professionals is necessary to ensure quality patient care.The Echo Tech will explain procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the process.The images should be reviewed and evaluated for clarity, completeness, and diagnostic value.Accurate patient records, documentation, and reports must be maintained in the PACS or EMR system.Equipment maintenance, performing quality control checks, and reporting malfunctions promptly are also required tasks.
Compliance with infection control, HIPAA, and patient safety standards is expected.Staying current with continuing education and new echocardiographic techniques is essential for this role.Participation in continuous quality improvement initiatives and accreditation processes is required.Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
