Job summary

Kearney County Health Services is seeking a Radiological Technologist to perform X-ray, CT, DEXA, and C-arm procedures in the Radiology Services department. The ideal candidate is ARRT certified, Nebraska licensed, and capable of working on-call rotations with timely on-site response.

Responsibilities include ensuring radiation safety, patient positioning, QC/QA tasks, and communicating results to physicians. Evening/weekend shifts may be required; familiarity with mammography is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Licensed in Nebraska as a Medical Radiographer.
  • ARRT certification required for Radiology practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Practice Radiation Safety and ALARA.
  • Adjust imaging equipment settings and patient positioning.
  • Review exams and report results to ordering providers.
  • Perform X-ray, CT, DEXA, and C-arm fluoroscopy as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with ACR/MQSA accreditation and QC/QA procedures.

Days and Hours
  • Weekdays - Approx 7:00 am - 5:00 pm; 2 day per week;
  • Saturday morning (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM) rotation required during weekend On Call Rotation (about once a month)
  • Weekday On Call rotation required (maximum 30 minute response time)

Job Title: Radiological Technologist

Department: Radiology Services

Reports To: Director of Radiology Services

Position Summary: Performs multiple imaging modalities, including X-ray, CT, DEXA, and C-arm fluoroscopy. Must be registered with ARRT and State of Nebraska Licensed. Successfully completed an accredited educational program related to CT or provide/perform documented training of CT proficiency. On the job CT training is available. Mammography certification is a plus.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
General imaging
  • Practice Radiation Safety and ALARA
  • Adjusts imaging equipment settings; determines proper voltage and exposure; positions patients properly.
  • Understands and performs Quality Control / Quality Assurance
  • Review exams and report results to ordering providers
  • Must be registered with ARRT and State of Nebraska Licensed and successfully completed an accredited educational program related to CT or provide/perform documented training of CT proficiency.
X-Ray Examinations
  • Performing diagnostic exam that utilize ionizing radiation
CT Scans
  • Performs examinations using Computerized Tomography and utilizing contrast media that perform cross-sectional anatomy that produces an image and numerical value to tissue density.
Mammography (a plus!)
  • Understand Risk Factors for Breast Cancer and educate patients to perform self-breast exams and promote awareness through various types of education
  • Understand ACR/MQSA requirements for accreditation, compliance and evaluation. Understand screening guideline, patient positioning, safety, ALARA, image quality and documentation, perform QC/QA. Current with CEU’s. Cross training available
Bone Density Scans (DEXA)
  • Measure bone mineral density at a specific at a specific anatomical site and calculate total body bone mineral content
C-Arm and Surgical Procedures
  • Operate C-arm during orthopedic cases, pain management procedures, or general surgical procedures as needed
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
  • Licensed in the State of Nebraska as a Medical Radiographer
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively to maintain good working relationships with staff, healthcare providers, and patients
  • Must be capable of communicating clearly (reading, writing and speaking) in the English Language.
  • Must be proficient in the operation of a personal computer with Microsoft Office and the Internet
  • Must be capable of reading and comprehending complex healthcare laws and regulations.
Other Requirements:

Must take On Call rotation at minimum one weekday and weekend rotations (every 4-5 weekends). Also must have the ability to report on site within 30 minutes for Call Backs, preferably sooner.
