Job summary

Constellation Energy Corp. is seeking a Radiation Protection professional to evaluate radiological conditions at a nuclear plant and implement safety measures for workers and the public.

The role involves dose rate surveys, access control to radioactive materials, and providing briefings to staff to minimize exposure. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential, with shift flexibility and the ability to obtain unescorted Nuclear access.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in Radiation Protection, Health Physics or related field.
  • High School Diploma plus 2 years of Radiation Protection experience.
  • Experience in Radiation Protection at commercial nuclear plants and passing the NUF or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing (TECH) and work different shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dose rate, contamination, and airborne radioactivity surveys.
  • Provide coverage for work groups to minimize personnel exposure.
  • Control access to radioactive material through labeling and posting.
  • Provide briefings to personnel to prevent unplanned exposure to radiation.
  • Measure and record radiation levels; maintain and issue PPE; may wear a respirator.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills.

Starting pay rate is $46.12/hr (non-negotiable)

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Evaluate radiological conditions in the nuclear plant and the implementation of the necessary radiological safety measures as they apply to nuclear plant workers and members of the general public.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Perform dose rate, contamination, and airborne radioactivity surveys.
  • Provide job coverage for work groups to minimize personnel exposure.
  • Control access to radioactive material through labeling and posting.
  • Provide briefings and guidance to plant personnel to prohibit unplanned exposure to radioactive material.
  • On an assigned shift, and acting under prescribed rules and approved practices, measure and keep records of radiation levels, to clean, maintain, and issue respiratory protection equipment, and to perform related work. Due to the nature of the work, individuals may be asked to wear a respirator.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associates degree or equivalent in Radiation Protection, Health Physics or related field OR
  • High School Diploma and 2 years professional work experience in Radiation Protection, Health Physics or equivalent OR
  • Previous experience in Radiation Protection at commercial nuclear power plants and passed the NUF (North Eastern Fundamentals Exam) or equivalent
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing (TECH)
  • Ability to work different shifts
  • Ability to receive unescorted Nuclear access
