Job summary

HII's Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, VA is seeking Radiological Control Technicians (Monitors) to perform surveillance of radiological work areas and document radiation levels as per control regulations.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the 22-week RCTQS training in Portsmouth, VA. Ability to work rotating shifts, pass exams, and obtain an interim security clearance is essential. Travel may be 10–25%.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be able to pass a complete physical examination prior to employment.
• Candidate must complete the Radiological Control Technician Qualification School (RCTQS) after hire.
• Basic algebra and geometry knowledge; familiarity with biology and chemistry is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiological surveys and document activity in work areas.
• Monitor use and maintenance of nuclear containment equipment.
• Respond to radiological incidents to protect employees and the environment.
