Job description

Job Overview

This role assesses patients and safely performs routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. The employee serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Responsibilities
  • Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
  • Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
  • Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (may include placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast).
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
  • Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
  • Assists in facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education

Required – Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.

Work Experience

Required – None.

Preferred

Preferred – Radiologic Technology Experience.

Certifications
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or ARRT registry eligible, registered within 90 days of employment, and holding a temporary state license.
  • Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call availability) and travel throughout and between facilities.
Physical and Environmental Demands

No heavy lifting beyond 100 lbs occasionally or 50 lbs frequently is expected. Activities may include walking or standing for significant periods, pushing or pulling equipment, and maintaining a production rate pace. Exposure to blood, body fluid, tissue, and communicable diseases is likely. Occupational exposure to hazardous medications or waste may occur.
